We all need support, so don’t mother alone!
With three children of my own (ages 20, 18 and 12 years old), I know the joys and demands of motherhood and believe we need community to thrive on the journey of parenthood. This community was once built into the fabric of society but that has been lost in our modern world. Having birthed all three of my children in America, but raising them overseas for 5 years, I have seen first hand how many countries provide in-home support for new parents and continued preventative mental health support, knowing the importance of that investment on the mental health and thriving of a family. It is common for many countries to provide up to a year paid leave for postpartum families, as well as, ongoing mental health support for parents. The difference in the United States is staggering. American families are struggling, and it doesn’t have to be this way.
As my children grew older and we moved overseas, I began to observe these differences and understand the effects of the lack of support for American families. My passions to make a change grew. As a Fitness Instructor for 25 years, but also a stay-at-home mom, I knew I loved helping people on their health and fitness journey, and I knew first hand the need for support in motherhood. I began to explore ways I could help bridge this support gap for American families. In 2022, I studied to become a Postpartum Doula with the Newborn Mothers Collective based in Australia. I also studied to become a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) in 2022 and in January of 2026, earned my certification as an IBCLC, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. After helping postpartum women in the hospital setting Breastfeeding Support Groups in Virginia, I wanted to help in the home, where moms didn’t have to leave the comfort of home to get the support they needed. And thus, Your Postpartum Village was born. I believe that every mother’s journey is sacred, and no one should walk the path alone. Thru support and connection, not feeling isolated, mothers can thrive. My vision is to help restore this community for the families I support.
